Fly Action in Focus – a short series exploring fly manipulation
Welcome to the second installment of our fly manipulation mini-series!
In this episode we take a look at some 16 year old footage from Paul’s home made DVD “An Introduction to River Fly Fishing” not to mention his first foray in to written instruction content… in the form of a hand written booklet made for a friend in the 1990s (let us know in the comments if you’d like to see more of either these).
We also hear how Paul got a bloody nose from his own student when he was beaten in a competition using the manipulation secrets he’d recently shared.
If you haven’t seen part 1 yet make sure to check that out first here.

Usual high quality content and production.
Thanks Peter.
Another good one. But help! I couldn’t spot any take o Paul’s old video! Did he just feel it??
Hi Trevor, it’s definitely there – a slight stop and straightening of the line (typical for grayling in colder weather).
The low quality on the old footage makes things difficult and if you’re watching on a mobile screen it may be tougher to see.
If you’re not striking at those little ticks and stops you’re probably missing out on a lot of fish 🙂
